Week 1

This week I learned more about how online business actually works and there’s more to it than I realized. Watching influencers, it seemed simple to start business at a click of a button. Now I realize there is a lot more behind it and it takes time and consistency.
Affiliate Marketing
One thing that stood out to me was affiliate marketing. I didn’t have a strong grasp on this business model before class. A key point in this is trust. People are not just buying because something is posted online, they are buying because they trust the person recommending it. That made me think about how important reputation is online and how easy it would be to lose trust if you are not honest.
Dropshipping
Dropshipping was another topic that widened my view. At first it sounded like an easy business model because you do not hold inventory. But after deepening my understanding, there’s a lot more to it. Shipping issues, bad suppliers, and customer complaints can all come back to you even if you are not physically handling the product. So it is not really “easy money” like people make it seem on social media.
Branding
Branding also made more sense to me this week. Branding is more than just a name or a logo.t is more about how people see your business overall. Things like how your page looks, how consistent your posts are, and how professional everything feels all matter. It is basically the first impression people get before they even buy anything.
Social Media Marketing
Social media marketing is fairly common nowadays. Apps like TikTok and Instagram can make a business grow fast, but only if the content is good and consistent. I noticed that businesses that do well online are not just selling all the time, they are also posting content that people are intrigued or entertained by.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this week helped me see online business in a more realistic way. It is more than simply making money, but also building a name that people will trust. I am still not sure exactly what kind of business I would want in the future, but I can see now that it takes real effort and planning if you want it to actually work.
